Experimental · not Arcade Complete

PLAYGROUNDCLASSIC MECHANICS · SAME PIT DNA

Recreate popular game feels using Moshpit’s art / combat vocabulary — not clones, not a fourth campaign. Steal principles (Robotron surround, Twin-stick clarity, score-chasing) and keep the festival pit.

Lab already exists for MIDI / mic / stake influence (/lab). This Playground is the mechanics + skin R&D bay. Stable Arcade stays locked. On-the-fly skins below are web preview filters first; full Godot ASCII / sprite skins = Gemini export later.

ON-THE-FLY SKINS

Preview how the pit reads as ASCII CRT or chunky pixel — without shipping a second game.

MECHANIC REMIXES

Robotron DNA

Surround swarm · dual focus

Enemies from all sides, readable silhouettes, “shoot everywhere” fantasy. People comparing you to Robotron is a compliment — own the twin-stick arcade lineage, then out-festival it.

Open Arcade + flag
Smash TV / Total Carnage

Room clear · wave door

Clear the pen, door opens, next pen harder. You already have wave/set structure — playground for snappier room beats.

Flag experiment
Geometry Wars

Score flower · particle greed

Chain multipliers and “one more orbit” addiction. Keep clutter budget (<3500 prims) — beauty without melting phones.

Flag experiment
Hotline / Nuclear Throne

Pace spike · run identity

Short violent runs, weapon personality. Your Brotato-ish shop already rhymes — playground for faster first-30s hooks.

Flag experiment
Original art

Pixel sprite skin (engine)

Web filter ≈ mood board. Real sprite/ASCII draw path needs Gemini on draw pipeline + GROK feel recert — tracked as experiment, not Stable.

Asset Lab
ASCII venue

Luminous ASCII pit

Historical Main.AsciiPit / F11 toggle lived on desktop C#. Web playground ships CRT filter now; full ASCII cells = future export ticket.

ROBOTRON — GOOD COMPARE?

Yes, in a good way. Robotron is the gold standard for “you + surround death + clarity.” If players say that, they already feel the skill fantasy. Don’t run from it — answer it with what Robotron never had: festival day arc, circle-pit body physics, setlist escalation, couch 2P, mic/MIDI toys.

Room for improvement (honest):
